Police Science (POL)
Associate of Applied Science Degree
Program Overview
A police science graduate can expect to seek and gain employment in law enforcement, corrections, investigative, or related fields at the local, state, and federal levels.
This program is designed:
- For the entry-level student who wants to prepare for employment within the field of law enforcement.
- For the current law enforcement professional is the field is seeking additional skills and knowledge for professional purposes or personal development.
- To provide an associate degree option to students desiring to transfer to a college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree program.
Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate first-year college-level technical knowledge in the following areas of the police science degree: intro to criminal justice, intro to law, police report writing, addiction, and intro to law enforcement.
- Demonstrate more complex second-year college-level technical knowledge in different areas of the police sciencedegree: criminal investigations, interview and interrogations, criminal procedures, domestic violence, communications and relations, probation and parole.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply technical knowledge acquired in the classroom to better prepare students for employment in the police/law enforcement field, or to prepare the student to pursue further academic endeavors.
FYE1110
First Year Experience is required for all students to take in year 1, fall semester. Students must receive a passing grade.
