Belmont College Announces New Massage Therapy Program

St. Clairsville, OH (June 15, 2023) — Belmont College announced today that their Massage Therapy Certificate program has been approved and they are now accepting applicants for the Fall 2023 Semester.

“It is a pleasure to introduce the Massage Therapy program to our students and the community,” said Dr. Heather Davis, Dean of Academic Affairs. “Students in the program will gain the ability to perform safe and ethical massages ranging up to two hours in a professional setting.”

She continued, “The one-year Massage Therapy certificate program will prepare students to take the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) in the State of Ohio.”

A passing MBLEx score allows individuals to apply for a license to practice massage therapy in the State of Ohio via the State Medical Board of Ohio (SMBO). Licensure from the SMBO is required for massage therapy employment in Ohio.

Additionally, students will prepare to perform professionally in a massage environment, including applying technical and soft skills. Individuals in the program must complete a clinical experience within the on-site massage therapy lab, performing 75 massages.

Davis also noted that the Massage Therapy program at Belmont College is the only approved massage therapy program in this area for the State of Ohio.
