“I’ve worked in the healthcare field for over 15 years. I always wanted to be a nurse one day, because I’m a nurturing person who loves making a difference in people’s lives, especially during what is often their most difficult time.
But between raising four kids and holding down a job as a State Tested Nurse Aid in nursing homes and hospice care, ‘one day’ always seemed out of reach. I never imagined I could add going to school to the mix.
Until I did.
I chose Belmont College not just for the advantage of being close to home, but also because I’d heard great things about the nursing program—especially the instructors. Once I started, I found out for myself how amazing and dedicated they are. They truly take pride in making sure students understand the material and helping them succeed on every level—from making themselves available for tutoring, to making the learning fun and enjoyable, our instructor made all the difference. Going after my degree at Belmont was the best decision I could have ever make. I only regret not doing it sooner.
Since graduating in July of 2023, I’ve been proud to work as a licensed practical nurse at a nearby nursing home. Thanks to Belmont College, I’m confident in my abilities as a nurse. One day very soon I’ll be a very proud RN. To become a good nurse, you need compassion, kindness and empathy. Those are qualities I’ve always had. It was with the knowledge I gained at Belmont, along with a strong support system at home, that I was finally able to turn ‘one day’ into ‘today.’”
