“My background before attending Belmont was diverse. I’d managed condominiums in Honolulu, worked as a pharmacy tech, and managed a Seattle chainsaw art business.
I moved back to the Ohio Valley to help take care of my mom when she became terminally ill and wanted to continue living in her home. That’s when I became interested in nursing. I was so thankful for the hospice nurses who came to the house. They not only cared for my mom, but for the rest of the family too.
I’d heard a lot of positive comments from people I knew who’d studied at Belmont, and the flexibility of scheduling classes made it an easy choice. I received a blend of clinical and real-world experience in the nursing classes, as well as useful pre-requisite classes. An instructor or tutor was always available to help me any time where I felt I needed guidance.
I earned my Associates Degree Nursing (ADN) degree in May 2018, not long after my 50th birthday. Since then, I’ve gone on to acquire my Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN), and I’m getting ready to begin classes to earn my master’s degree. I’m currently working as registered nurse at a skilled nursing facility here in the Ohio Valley.”
