Connected to Family. And Patients.

“Growing up not far from Belmont College, it was always on my radar. Many of my family members have attended Belmont, including my dad. They had nothing but wonderful experiences to share with me about the campus and staff. When I toured the campus, I knew immediately it was for me—even though I had no clue what career path to pursue.

Although I knew nothing about the medical field, I did have a lot of family members who love their jobs in healthcare, and I knew I wanted to help people. So, I decided on Medical Assisting as a way to get my foot in the door in the healthcare field. Right away, I knew I was in the right place with the right people. I enjoyed every minute with my classmates. We got to know each other and help each other. Our instructors were nothing short of amazing—so helpful and upbeat.

I graduated from the Medical Assisting program in August of 2024. I’m working as a medical assistant and phlebotomist—I completed the Phlebotomy program at Belmont in December— at a family practice/urgent care in St. Clairsville. I was hired after I finished my clinicals in July.

At work, I administer injections, room patients, take vital signs, call in medications, and “tickle” papers that go in patient charts. Being able to help our patients and see how appreciative they are makes everything worthwhile. I’m working on being accepted into the nursing program this fall. Every day I come to class with the mindset that one day I’ll be another set of hands helping patients.

If you’re considering Medical Assisting at Belmont, it’s an amazing place to start. I wouldn’t have done it any other way.”
