“I would absolutely recommend Belmont College and the CCP program. For me, it has been more than just an academic experience, it has been a journey of self-discovery.” – Roselyn Anderson
As a senior at Barnesville High School, I had the chance to start building my future early through the College Credit Plus (CCP) program at Belmont College. As a CCP student enrolled in Belmont’s CDCA (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) program, I’ve been able to combine my passion for helping others with an early start on my career path.
I was drawn to the field of addiction and recovery services because of my personal experiences and my desire to make a difference. The CCP program gave me the opportunity to begin meaningful work early. I chose Belmont College not only because it is close to home, but also because of the welcoming and supportive environment. The professors in Belmont’s mental health program truly care—not just about your education, but about you as a person. I have never experienced anything like it.
While pursuing my education at Belmont, I also balance being a high school student, a multi-sport athlete, and working at a local restaurant. To some, that might seem overwhelming, but I see it as a series of opportunities. Every day, I choose to see growth instead of pressure, and I believe that mindset has helped me get to where I am today.
My time at Belmont has been life changing. I am often the youngest person in my classes, but I have never let my age define what I can do. Belmont never told me I couldn’t achieve something because of my age, instead, they gave me the resources and support to succeed. That experience has built my confidence and shown me that I am capable of doing hard things.
After graduation, I plan to continue my education in social work. I want to use my CDCA certification and future degree to make a lasting impact on individuals and families affected by addiction. My long-term goal is to open my own addiction and rehabilitation counseling service, one that not only helps those struggling with addiction, but also supports their families, because addiction affects more than just the individual.
I also want to encourage others to be unapologetically themselves. My whole life, people have told me I’m “too much.” Too loud, too spontaneous, too emotional, but I’ve never let that change who I am. My advice is simple: be passionate, be empathetic, and never shrink yourself to fit someone else’s expectations. Be “too much,” because someone out there needs you to care that much.
I would absolutely recommend Belmont College and the CCP program. For me, it has been more than just an academic experience, it has been a journey of self-discovery. Through hard work and passion, I have not only jumpstarted my career, but I have also found my purpose.
