Great Minds Fellowship at Belmont College Supports Students Looking to Make a Difference
St. Clairsville, OH (May 30, 2024) – Belmont College officials are pleased to announce that two of their students have been accepted into the Great Minds Fellowship program offered by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
Zoe Showalter and Lilian Worchester are the 2024 Great Minds Fellows from Belmont College.
The Great Minds Fellowship supports students looking to make a difference and contribute to growing Ohio’s behavioral health workforce. The program helps students jumpstart a successful future in their chosen career path, while allowing communities across Ohio to better care for those living with mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Showalter from Barnesville, Ohio, is a recent Belmont 2024 graduate. She received an associate’s degree in Mental Health, as well as a Certified Chemical Dependency Assistant certificate. Worchester, also from Barnesville, Ohio, is a current second-year student working to complete her associate’s degree in Mental Health and her Certified Chemical Dependency Assistant certificate. Her projected graduation date is May 2025.
“The Great Minds Fellowship program reduces the financial burden of education for students interested in the mental health profession,” said Danielle Moore, Director of Financial Aid. “Their vital and valued contribution in turn creates a positive impact on our communities.”
Great Minds Fellows are eligible for up to $10,000 during their undergraduate studies for scholarship opportunities to assist with the costs of obtaining their degrees or certificates; paid internships at one of Ohio’s Community Behavioral Health Centers (CBHC); and the costs of required license and certification preparation and exams (and other costs related to the degree or certificate).
Eligible students must be Ohio residents and enrolled in the Mental Health Degree and/or the Certified Chemical Dependency Certificate program. The Great Minds Fellowship program includes an internship and employment requirement.
