Belmont College Students Accepted into WVU Medicine’s Aspiring Nurse Program

St. Clairsville, OH (December 12, 2023) – Belmont College is pleased to announce to announce that, 7 of their nursing students have been accepted into WVU Medicine’s Aspiring Nurse Program to pursue their journey into the medical field.

Each student entering the Aspiring Nurse Program receives $5,000 per semester, equaling $25,000 over the course of four semesters. This includes a sign-on bonus upon hire in exchange for a three-year work commitment with Barnesville Hospital, Harrison Community Hospital, or Wheeling Hospital following graduation.

“Belmont is honored to be partnering with WVU Medicine’s Barnesville Hospital, Harrison Community Hospital, and Wheeling Hospital in the Aspiring Nurse Program,” said. Dr. Paul F. Gasparro, President. “This program is a tremendous opportunity for our students to help relieve some of the financial burdens they face so that they can focus on their studies and clinicals.”

On December 11, 2023, WVU Medicine held a signing ceremony welcoming the students as part of the program.

The students and their hometowns are as follows:

  • Chelsea Barker – Bethesda, OH
  • Haleigh Boyer – Martins Ferry, OH
  • Kayla Glendenning – Cadiz, OH
  • Jessica Kettlewell – Barnesville, OH
  • Faith Lowery – Cambridge, OH
  • Kayla Roupe – Moundsville, WV
  • Kate Withrow – Belmont, OH

Gasparro continued, “Having the opportunity to partner with local hospitals and provide them with highly trained nurses while at the same time offering an incredible career path to our students is a win-win for us all.”

“Thanks to WVU Medicine, all of the nursing students participating in this signing ceremony today will have the ability to complete their education without the burden of large debt and have a job waiting for them following graduation,” he said.
