Belmont College Reports Fall Enrollment Increase

Belmont College boasts significant enrollment increase for the 2024 academic year.

St. Clairsville, OH (September 9, 2024) – With the recent start of the fall semester, Belmont College is pleased to announce that enrollment numbers at the College have increased.

According to College officials, as of September 9, 2024, the number of students enrolled for the fall term has climbed 140 percent compared to the same time-period last year.

“We are very pleased with our enrollment numbers for the fall term,” said Dr. Paul F. Gasparro, President. “This increase is a direct reflection of the hard work that our faculty, staff, and students put forth to make Belmont College a success.”

Ohio’s College Credit Plus program has played a large factor in Belmont’s recent enrollment spike. Belmont’s College Credit Plus Program is up 306 percent in enrollment for the fall term and expects to serve over 1,400 students for the entire year.

The premise of College Credit Plus is to afford students in grades 7 through 12, at no cost to them, the ability to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities.

“We work closely with our local high school partners to ensure the accessibility of the College Credit Plus program to students and families,” said Bridgette Dawson, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, “Compared to this time last year our College Credit Plus enrollment numbers for Fall 2024 have more than tripled.”

Dawson went on to say, “We have been working with other local community colleges as partners to make sure all area students have access to post-secondary education, including those who were previously students at Eastern Gateway Community College. Additionally, with enrollment continuing to increase, we are working to create new programs and initiatives to meet students’ needs.”

Over the past year, Belmont has added seven new degrees and certificates. New programs include:

  • Cleanroom Technology
  • Computed Tomography
  • Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Laboratory Technician
  • Massage Therapy
  • Teacher Education
  • Water Quality Technician

The College is also now home to a new We Proudly Serve Starbucks Campus Café that opened earlier this semester. The Campus Café is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and open to the public. Visitor parking spaces are available in the parking lot at the East entrance of the Main Campus building for community members visiting the coffee shop.
