To be eligible, applicants must exhibit professional attitude and behavior, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and submit an essay of at least 500 words on the topic “The Importance of Bedside Nursing.” The scholarship honors the legacy of Gust Maistros, founder of Bell Nursing Home in Belmont, Ohio.

The Wheeling Hospital WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital Heart of Nursing Award is presented to an LPN student who demonstrates excellence in bedside nursing care and a strong commitment to professional practice. Recipients are recognized for their ability to apply nursing theory to clinical performance, maintain professional attitude, manners, conduct, and communication, and show enthusiasm and adaptability when performing in new or unfamiliar clinical situations.

In addition, Cierra Alexander of Bridgeport, Ohio has been selected as the recipient of the Elizabeth Rubloff Scholarship, recognizing her dedication and excellence in the nursing profession.

This scholarship recognizes students who consistently demonstrate excellence in both academic and clinical settings. Recipients exemplify strong bedside nursing care, effectively apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice, maintain a professional attitude and behavior, and implement therapeutic nurse-patient relationships.
