This is a course is designed for future technicians that will be working with motor vehicle HAVC systems in the field. Technicians who service motor vehicle air conditioners must be certified under Section 609 of the Federal Clean Air Act. Servicing motor vehicle air conditioning includes repairing, leak testing, and topping off air conditioning systems low on refrigerant as well as any other repairs to the vehicle which requires the dismantling of any part of the air conditioning system. Students will receive the EPA 609 upon completion of an open book 50 question exam. Students will perform the following in Lab portion of the course: demonstrate safety procedures, the refrigerant recovery process, recycling and reclamation, the evacuation process, proper tool use, and measuring a deep vacuum.
