This course is an introduction to Geographic Information Systems. Geographic Information Systems are capable of integrating, storing, editing, analyzing, sharing, and displaying geographically reference information. If the location of a person, thing, or event can be fixed on the earth, then it can be placed on a map, and that map can be used to search, organize and analyze that information. GIS applications and careers are discussed. The hardware and software used in the GIS are introduced.
