In this program, you’ll build the basic skill sets you’ll need to qualify for an entry-level position as a PC or networking technician. Through the Cisco Networking Academy, Belmont College can help you learn to design, install, and maintain computer networks.

Once you complete this short-term certificate, you’ll be prepared to sit for several industry certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CISCO Certified Entry-level Network Technician, Microsoft’s 70-680 TS: Windows 7, Configuring certification, and Microsoft’s 70-687 TS: Windows 8, Configuring certification.

What you’ll learn

  • Understand the Windows Operation System and prepare to sit for Microsoft’s 70-680 and 70-687 certification tests.
  • Upgrade and repair computers and prepare to sit for the A+ certification exam.
  • Understand networks and prepare to sit for the Network+ certification exam.
  • Sit for the Cisco Certified Entry-Level Network Technician exam.

Industry based certification:

  • Microsoft 70-680 – Implement and manipulate document structures and objects, implement program flow, access, and secure data, and use CSS3 in applications.
  • Microsoft 70-687 – Install and upgrade to Windows 8.1, configure hardware and applications, configure network connectivity, configure access to resources, configure remote access and mobility, monitor, and maintain Windows clients, and configure system and data recovery options.
  • CompTIA A+ – The first step of your professional IT journey, this is the ideal foundational certification to get started on a career working with cutting-edge information technologies. It covers mobile, tablets, laptops, desktops and beyond. The exam verifies that you can troubleshoot networking and security issues within operating systems such as Apple, Android, Windows and more.
  • CompTIA Network+ – This ISO-17024 compliant, vendor-neutral technology certification verifies that you have the skills and knowledge needed to take on a pivotal role in building, managing, and protecting the critical asset that is the data network.
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) – Validates your ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, you demonstrate the skills required for entry-level network support positions – the starting point for many successful careers in networking. The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium-size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.
