Short-Term Certificate

Pipelines transport oil, gas, and more, connecting consumers to some of the essentials of life. Pipeline welders install and repair this important network. If you enjoy working with your hands and being outside, this may be the career path for you. The Pipeline Welder Helper I Certificate program follows a national curriculum study and application of shield metal arc welding and oxyfuel welding processes as they apply to the oil & gas pipeline industry. Once you’ve completed your certification, you’ll be ready for a range of entry-level welding manufacturing jobs.

You’ll gain a range of key skills that include how to select machines and classify electrodes; basic welding techniques using 7018 electrodes for fillet welds; best practices in oxyfuel cutting and welding; and pipeline clamping, cribbing, and grinding. Once you’ve received your certificate, you’ll be prepared to earn your AWS D1.1 4F certification using E7018 welding rods.
