“I chose Belmont College because it was close to home, affordable, and offered great opportunities. My experience at was amazing. Along the way, I met many great people, and the instructors were incredibly supportive and helpful throughout my journey.” —Kaylee Ferguson
My name is Kaylee Ferguson, and I am a native of Woodsfield, Ohio. In 2025, I graduated from Belmont College with an Associate of Science degree, and this May, I am receiving my degree in the Laboratory Technician Program along with a certificate in Phlebotomy. After graduation, I will be working at Wheeling Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician in microbiology.
While completing my Associate of Science degree, I chose to take several lab classes as electives. Through those classes, I quickly fell in love with microbiology and decided to continue my education by pursuing the Medical Laboratory Technician program. I found the field incredibly interesting, especially learning about the different tests performed in the lab and seeing what they can reveal about what is happening inside the body.
I chose Belmont College because it was close to home, affordable, and offered great opportunities . My experience at was amazing. Along the way, I met many great people, and the instructors were incredibly supportive and helpful throughout my journey.
While attending school, I also worked and balanced my schedule by putting schoolwork first and working after classes or on weekends. One of the biggest challenges I faced was doubting myself at times, but with encouragement and support from the people around me, I was able to push through and continue moving forward.
After graduation, I plan to work at Wheeling Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician in microbiology. In the future, I may return to school to pursue forensic science or continue my education by earning a bachelor’s degree in laboratory technology.
My advice to future students is to never give up. Even when things feel difficult in the moment, all of the hard work and dedication will be worth it in the end.
